MKMOT (May 24, 2012)
Rough day out there yesterday, but I choose to focus on the good. Bristolmetrics came and went without a single Palin joke. I know my #MAKEITSTOP tactics are a source of contention around here, but remember, I don't want to have to use them. So, here's a +1 to all of you for restraint. I think it was Sun Tzu who once said "Sometimes the best comment is the one you don't make." Either him or BuDaMan, but regardless, a salient point.

ReplyDeleteAs an unsolicited side note, I don't see how it was a +10 comment. Don't get me wrong, its solid, better than the nonsense my unstarred ass throws against the wall. But still, +10?

DeleteI thought it deserved a +7, and being the 6th guy to +1 it, I figured I was safe. Echo landed #7, but those last 3 guys who laughed were pretty out of line.
DeleteAnyone who gives a +1 based on the current number of +1s given....well, who would do that? Nobody does that. If you liked it, it's a +1. Personally, I didn't understand it because I didn't know about Wayne Rooney's hair plugs. But, it's funny. That's how it works.

DeleteAnyway, I wouldn't ding a joke for getting too many +1's. If you like it, +1 it. Though once some joke I think got like 12 +1's and I'm pretty sure it was an ESPN headline rip-off. That annoyed me.
I should rephrase, as I too assume that +1's are generally "awarded" independently as people see fit. Surprised 10 people found it +1 worthy. I find that interesting, so thought I'd throw it out there on a blog about comments. I'm sure you find my opinion boring as all hell.
