Pink in the Armor (February 22, 2012)

Welcome to our newest feature, Pink in the Armor (h/t BBAM).

There's something about a really off-the-wall pink comment that horrifies and amuses in much the same way as an Ancient Aliens marathon.*

This is one such pink comment.

  1. Not nearly as awesome as a comment about Joan Rivers' luscious flapjacks. Just think of those things, like a pair of fried eggs stapled to a cat scratching post.
    YES!

  2. I love this feature, especially because it hasn't been too long that I've been able to see pink comments and I would have liked it before I got starred. I had asked a starred friend of mine how bad pink comments were, and he said it was really hard to describe. I've found myself looking up threads that have gotten a lot of comments just to see what I've missed.

You have a starred friend? I think there are only two people I know in real life who are even aware that I do whatever it is that we do at DS (and here, and StreetCheese, and MBA). What is it like? Do you guys sit up at night and gab?

That reminds me: You have a friend? What is it like?

  3. He's the one who introduced me to Deadspin, since he knew it'd be right up my alley. Before that, I generally stuck to the big sports sites and then niche sites for the teams I followed. Sadly, we do occasionally talk during the day to call attention to comments the other may have missed due to work or whatever. Even more sadly, we treat commenting like a law firm sealing off conflicts of interests. No discussions of comments we've made until they're already posted, he never promoted anything I posted, etc.

Having a friend is awesome. We sometimes laugh in each other's presence, which is like a +1 come to life. Even better, you don't have to constantly refresh or wait for a notification to see if a joke worked. The process is almost INSTANTANEOUS in person! The downside is there are sometimes feelings and fights, and things called tears for particularly serious things, which is the real life version of a -1. It's unpleasant.
