MKMOT (June 20, 2012)

You know those people who set their alarm clock really, really early, so they can hit the snooze button ten times before they have to get up, but then accidentally turn it off and don't get up at all, then you've got to cover their ass at work at a moment's notice? Can't say I'm a fan of those people.

So it's a bit of a late start today, but here's your open thread. Talk amongst yourselves.

  1. I'm one of those four times hitting the snooze button guys! But there's no one who can cover for me, so who gives a shit?

Boy, is it me or is there a ton of low quality comments out there?

    Big Gulps, huh?
    Welp. see ya later!

  2. Guy Who has never agreed with Gawker re: anything until nowJune 20, 2012 at 1:27 PM

Shockingly, I am in absolutely agreement with the first 10 commenters on Gawker on this article. The case described isn't murder, the guy isn't a vigilante, and the headline is sensationalist horseshit.

I'm sure a few folks will come through and make idiotic comments about Texas rednecks, but for now - and perhaps the only time - I stand with the Gawker commentariat.

    1. All I can read is the first ones posted, since I can't figure out how to navigate Powwow, but yeah, that's bullshit and they're right.

    2. With all due respect, Guy Who, I really think we Deadspin commenters should leave Gawker alone and mind our own bizness.

  3. I just want to commend the ninjas on their quick work on the dinosaur meme guy in the first Sandusky post. This is why we need to keep them around for powwow.

    1. You're right. The last thing we need around here is the scourge of dinosaur memes. They're everywhere!

  4. Dear Marv,

Do you think it would pass the ninjmus test if I dropped a #yousawamovieonce in one of those godawful Grierson and Leitch abominations?

    Thanks,

    1. No. It would not.

    2. No, I don't.

But the carnage would make it even more entertaining.

  5. My apologies for cluttering up the Adidas thread with a joke that made total sense in my brain. My friend said it made zero sense to him, and probably everyone else. Way too late to redact.

  6. I'm genuinely curious about the way articles are rolled out. I'm surely not the only one who has noticed that there are typically flurries where 3 or 4 pieces go up in 20 minutes, and then lulls where there is nothing new for an hour or more. Now, from a commenting point of view, that's dreadful, but I'm wondering if it makes sense for the 90% of visitors who don't read the comments (not sure why it would, but I've never given it any thought). Since most pieces are not terribly time sensitive, seems like they *could* theoretically be parceled out more evenly.
