Weekends! (MKMOT, July 7-8, 2012)

  1. Anyone ever heard of an old-timey singer named Gene (not Glen, apparently) Campbell?

I'm asking this question for no reason. It's my name.

    1. I sure don't understand social morays.

    2. Well one thing is for certain. We, as a society, would be better off if the sheeple would pull the wool from over their eyes and see what's really going on. There's a reason Rush Limbaugh's portfolio is heavily invested in Slim Jims and Twinkies, people.

  3. Listen:

Everything I wrote was actually written by Richard Nixon.

    1. No, the only thing Richard Nixon wrote is ad copy for phone books.

      And so it goes.

  4. Been going back and forth between depression and thinking Kinja can be made to work, likely evidenced by my comments. Still am. But the next time I have some Sam Smith's Nut Brown Ale I'm pouring one out for all the stars of Deadspin. Seriously. Gave the wife a short version today, she'll understand. I'll do this in thanks for all the idiotic comments I never had to read. You guys are the best.

  5. Erg, you gotta give it a rest. The constant chatter about how to improve the commenting system...they don't give a shit what you think. Sorry, but it's true. And trying to figure out the algorithm and how it all works...You're spending way too much time agonizing over this stuff, stuff that doesn't mean much at all in the grand scheme. Just let it go man, just let it go.

    1. Yeah, this was just meant to be a final thanks to the old hierarchy. But I've been a programmer for 38 years. I can't not poke at the algorithm, in what limited way it's possible. I would dearly love to get a look at the logic flow.

    2. Imagine, for a moment, all of the people who care about Kinja and Erg's opinion of Kinja. Whatever that number of people is, keep that in your mind.

Now, without forgetting that first number, imagine the number of people who care about some anonymous dude's criticism of Erg's opinion. It's less, right?

Put your name to it or get out.

    3. I love Erg and I love that he cares...I just think he's putting too much thought into it and taking over too much of his free time. Erg's one of my favorites.

    4. Hey Erg, I didn't know about your background. Sorry if you'd mentioned it before and I'd missed it. I'd love to get more of your thoughts from a tech side, if you're interested in sharing. Maybe a guest piece.

We're all Erg fans here. That's the important thing.

I've mentioned IT but it was likely buried in a lot of words. Got a fancy title but I am, to the bone, a programmer. Let me know what you're looking for and I'll see what I can do. You're gonna need an editor if it's a guest piece because if ever I changed my commenter name from Erg it would likely be to Prolix.

    1. That looked like a conglomeration of people from Gawker, Jezibel, and io9 (recognized one guy from there) that somehow wandered over and commingled with a few Deadspinners. Checked & didn't see any cross posts, but that whole thing was decidedly odd. Kinda fun to watch.
