MKM Open Thread (Feb 12, 2012)

Welcome to your MKM Blog open thread for February 12, 2012, the day your morning began with with a lamentable effort to play "telephone" with a mute Dirk Nowitzki.

Good morning, everyone.  A happy Sunday to you.  Shouldn't you be at Church?  You know you need it.  Especially you.

Okay, since you're not going to take my advice, just chat about lousy Deadspin comments below.  And they have been legion of late, so no excuses.

Here's a Youtube clip to get you started.

If only there was a commenter that could put a bow on this Whitlock post. Someone with an extensive knowledge of all things popular culture. Who can speak on an array of subjects ranging from clothes, to movies, to body parts and basketball coaches.

  3. Looks like AJ might have finally gotten a point across to a few people at least:

I didn't read all of it, since in true Gawker fashion, the joke was dragged into the ground and then went on about 15 comments further. Although maybe not, considering I've seen threads that long over there go on just about the way this has in real life. Whatever, at least someone other than obvious Deadspin transplants sees why their comment section is so maddening.

    1. That was fantastic. "Insert Clever Name" did a nice job, but "Sad that Oprah passed away" was probably my favorite.

Actually, who am I kidding? My favorites are the ones trying to get in on the joke who still don't get that they are the ones being mocked (e.g., Boricua in Texas: "Incoherent rant warning that old commenters are too big for their britches and need to get over the editorial changes or get a life. Oh, and AJ's ban post rules, +1 yeah!")

    2. Yeah, there's still plenty of work to be done though...

Ugh, that thread just made me ill. And all over a forgettable performance by a forgettable performer on the FUCKING GRAMMYS, which I didn't think anyone watched at all until I signed into Twitter last night.

  4. So, have we decided whether Lord Comment is real or a parody?

    1. Absolutely a parody.

    2. I assumed so. I am thoroughly enjoying it for now, though it will probably get old very quickly.
