RIP, MCA

Hardly the place for serious thoughts, so I'll just say that I will really miss you, man, and people should take the opportunity to give to their favorite cancer charity as appropriate...

Hickey made a great point on twitter about the response to Whitney Houston's death. Honestly, she possessed great talent, which she then squandered in the process of becoming a complete degenerate. Not that this hasn't been done before, but the canonization she received upon dying was galling. Now, how will the media treat the death of a pioneering artist, who spent the latter part of his life raising awareness on global issues and engaging in philanthropy?
At any rate, we lost a great one.

  6. You left off the credit card information. Now how am I supposed to make a donation?

  8. I can't stand it I know you planned it
I'm gonna set it straight, on DUAN too late
I can't help balogging when I'm in here
Cause my lyrics flow, then they disappear
I must be honest, I almost cried
It hurt to hear that M-C-A died
Oh my God, it's a mirage
    I'm typing on a meta-balog.

IMG's back and he sure ain't frontin'
Helps a good cause with the click of a button.
I go all out, then I'm gone
So donate now, stop cancer from now on

    I can't believe I'm not done yet
Donate please, so we can stop cancer, yes
    Can't believe I'm back, it's just a mirage
I'm just glad we have this meta-balog.

Whyyy?!?!?!1?11?!?? (I swear this balog will never fall)
Good things can happen on this meta-balog
Good things can happen on this meta-balog
Good things can happen from this meta-balog
Good things will happen from this meta-balog

I can't stand it, I know you planned it
I'm gonna set it straight, on DUAN too late
But I can't help writing with some time to waste
Today I'll make the case, we'll do some good in this place
I'll do what it takes, tried to stop, I can't though
Having fun with this, a few know my handle
What could it be, it's a mirage
    I'm back here on this thing - it's meta-balog

  9. Hey I hate to sully this RIP MCA post, but seeing as how it's the most recent one and therefore the most likely to be seen, can we talk for a minute?

    Is this blog dead?

People obviously liked the open thread, and it seems a shame to just give up on it. Not that you folks owe me anything, but if you're finished here, are you gonna put a bow on it?

    1. Seems dead, but since you opened the floodgates ...

I had to find somewhere to vent about the worst reply I've ever seen. Others have obnoxiously pointed out "logical inconsistencies" in silly jokes, but:
      a) the joke already had 7 +1's so he's really insulting 8 people who apparently didn't get that "effort doesn't take physical space,"
      b) the way he phrases his objection epitomizes snottiness ("actually, [dumb stuff], so ...."), and
      c) the guy uses a burrito reference in his handle, so presumably has some sense for what we do here.

I've never been closer to approving someone just to lash into them.

OK, that is all. RIP MCA. Should have been you "StandBackBurrito".

  10. Is there some kind of curse on these blogs? Does Craggs e-mail people and politely ask them to take them down? What the hell.
