MKMOT (June 15, 2012)

Well, it looks like peace has been restored. That sucks is great news!

I expect nothing less from you on this long-awaited Friday. In fact, I expect nothing at all. Feel free to give me some upside surprise below. Under promise, over deliver. That's my surefire strategy for the kind of excellence you see day in and day out.

Here's some music that you might enjoy. It sounds best while accompanied by the sweet sound of your pudgy little fingers striking the keys that make the balog go round. Compose your own masterpiece below. It's open.

  1. Good morning all!

I just read through DUAN, and wanted to say that wow, a lot of you had shitty taste in music when you were teens. I will be heavily judging the fuck out of you for it for the remainder of the day.

    1. I just read through DUAN, and cried when I realized that those were shitty groups when I was in law school.

    2. As somebody forbidden to participate in the new few DUANs, I at least have a small amount of pride that when I finally awoke from my Def Leppard/Bon Jovi reverie in 1988, I didn't completely reject hard rock by cowering with REM but rather kicked it with the Butthole Surfers for year or two before discovering Madchester and the SST back catalog.

I was more depressed to see that the bands some people liked in high school were ones I liked after graduating college.

  2. It has since been moved, but this is a totally bonkers comment:

    Yikes

  3. Okay, in an attempt to stir up some shit today:

Has Save to Favorites and Captain Insensible ever both commented on the same day? Save to Favorite has been on a little hiatus lately, while C.I. rose to star status. Captain Insensible gets the one week ban, look who's back today!

NOTE: All I'm saying is that they have similar commenting styles. Unless I'm right about this. Then I was saying that.

    1. Isn't Capt. Insensible formerly Dr. Algo-whatever, formerly Norbizness?

    2. Phin's correct, although the Krieger thing didn't take.

    3. That's interesting, Captain. You also remind me of a different Guy Who commented on Deadspin, but I can't seem to remember his name.

    4. I've posted a few bitchy Anonymous comments, but never latched onto the Guy Who... phenomenon, whose prolificness (not a word) and single-mindedness reminds me more of that Analysis guy.

    5. How does everyone automatically know these things ...? The only one I ever picked up on was the vodka/scotch switch. Is it possible that Hatey McLife and Arkansas Fred are just commenting under new handles?

    6. The only one I ever picked up on was when BuDaMan became SameSadEcho.

    8. But BuDaMan's so much funnier. I have no idea how you managed to figure that one out.

  4. Hey, Raysism, I was going to reply to your Canseco comment with a picture of someone reaching, but I didn't want to get reprimanded for fucking around. You can't explain your own joke, you noodle brain.

    1. That wasn't an explanation of the joke -- it was the joke. But I'll admit that I couldn't quite get it in the right place. I wanted to have it read "... MVP (won, '88)..." at some point in the sentence, but I couldn't quite get it right, and ultimately had to get back to this job-thingy.

Are you happy that you pointed out my one and only imperfect joke? Are you?

    2. Pretty much made my day. But I can't do anything about that joke of your last line up there.

  5. The way UE Algebra's Jeter story keeps getting pimped by DS and referenced in the comments is pretty awesome.

Until tomorrow, when it will have worn out its welcome.

Unfortunately, you're right, which is why I may have to release "R.A. Dickey Shits on a Cat" sooner than I'd like...

I'm not going to lie. If this becomes your "Olive Garden," well, that's awesome.

  6. I'd like to purchase the rights to "R.A. Dickey Shits on a Cat" and turn it into a major motion picture starring Nicholas Cage.

    As the cat.
